E-Prep

Automate sample preparation to speed up vaccine and drug development

Accelerate diagnostics, vaccines and drug development through pharmaceutical, protein and metabolite analysis.

Chromatography is widely used in life sciences applications – especially within molecular biology – where it is used to identify proteins and nucleic acids in complex samples, providing valuable insights that can accelerate drug and vaccine development. Unfortunately, many laboratories struggle with the chromatography sample preparation process, as it involves numerous liquid handling steps, often with very small sample volumes. These procedures are commonly performed manually – which can lead to processing errors and repetitive strain injuries – creating demand for solutions that simplify sample preparation.

The ePrep® ONE used for life sciences

The ePrep ONE is a great tool for laboratories looking to automate their chromatography sample preparation process, increasing throughput and freeing up staff. This system uses analytical syringes to greatly increase the accuracy of the critical liquid handling steps, and can be used for:

  • Preparation of instrument calibration standards
  • Addition of internal and surrogate standards to samples
  • Addition of derivatisation reagents to samples
  • Addition of reagents (aqueous and non-aqueous) to samples
  • Preparation of surrogate standards
  • Filtering
  • Extraction and purification (liquid-liquid, solid-liquid and solid phase extraction)

Pharmaceutical medicine is concerned with the medical aspects of research, development, evaluation, registration, monitoring, and marketing of medicines in the interests of patients.

The pharmaceutical industry strives to develop and manufacture high quality new medicines with excellent efficacy and safety profiles.

Companies must seek approval from national regulatory authorities, before a medicine in development can be evaluated in patients or made available on the market.

SPEX products such as the Freezer/Mill are widely used in this sector, both for laboratory research and to prepare samples for elemental impurity analysis, in accordance with USP232

  • The Freezer/Mill® is a programmable cryogenic grinder specifically designed for milling and grinding of tough or temperature sensitive samples. Samples are placed in sealed cryogenic grinding vials then immersed in liquid nitrogen (LN). The samples are cooled to cryogenic temperatures then ground by a magnetically shuttling impactor.Since the vials are sealed, the cryogenic grinder maintains the integrity of its contents. Volatile compounds are retained, hazardous or critical samples are easily controlled, cleanup is simplified and cross-sample contamination is eliminated.
