Biobanking

Biobanking

Store biological samples that give researchers the power to study molecular characteristics of actual disease – then correlate those patterns with what is known about clinical progression.

Researchers use samples to:

  • Identify and validate drug targets
  • Target disease mechanisms
  • Develop screening tests for biomarkers linked to disease sub-types
  • Group patients based on genetic characteristics and likelihood of positive response to testing of new drugs
  • Group patients based on disease biomarkers to determine appropriate treatment

Liquid Handling Robot & Solution

Flow Robotics ALL-IN-ONE PACKAGE

To support the management of your biobank, Flow Robotics package is available with the essentials for ensuring secure liquid handling and sample tracking.

The Sample tracking system, ScanID scans an entire rack of samples at once before they are moved onto the flowbot® ONE for further processing.

You will get: ScanID, LineRacks, Tube Deck and SLAS adapter.

Flowbot® ONE unlocks the ability to track, volume audit, transfer, duplication check and split samples prior to analysis setup.

For biobanking we recommend a setup with 1-channel and 4-channel pipette modules, 10-1000µl and UV Light.

We deliver a template program for your Bio-Banking protocol.

Racks and accessories required to support scanning and transfer using sample, microcentrifuge and cryotubes will be included.

Further more, you get 1000µl Flow Robotics pipette tips and a pipette tip adapter, that is prepared with a QR code so you can get started right away.

*Training, Installation and Labware recommendations are also included*

Streamline quality and safety screening with E-Prep

Automating the chromatography sample preparation process not only frees up laboratory staff, but it also increases throughput and minimises human errors. The ePrep ONE used for food testing can streamline the sample preparation process, offering a fully automated, end-to-end solution for chromatography. The system combines accuracy and speed for:

  • Preparation of instrument calibration standards
  • Addition of internal and surrogate standards to samples
  • Addition of derivatisation reagents to samples
  • Addition of reagents (aqueous and non-aqueous) to samples
  • Filtering
  • Extraction and purification (liquid-liquid, solid-liquid and solid phase extraction)

  • Biological samples collected from patients within specific biological context
  • Sample annotated and stored in a controlled environment for secure temperature-safe shipment

  • Change the biologic context of the sample to understand resulting changes in the molecular profiles
  • Study objectives guide procedures and right testing helps ensure desired results

  • Adherence to consistency and best practices maintains sample integrity
  • Unique labeling with 2D-barcoded tubes identifies samples

  • Preparation variables introduced before and during biological stabilization of the sample include time at-room temperature, temperature of the room, type of fixative, time in fixative, method and rate of freezing, and size of aliquots
  • Success of downstream applications based on material, preservative, processing, and required derivatives

  • Storage temperature and duration may impact sample quality if dehydration, desiccation, or oxidation occur
  • Consider container, temperature, time and expected retrieval needs for downstream assays
  • A quality sample tube is paramount as the first line of defense for sample integrity
Remove frost as needed to read all tubes on a whole rack reader

  • Scan the sample out of the collection when it leaves the biobank
Account for possible variations in transport that could cause alterations in the sample
  • Collection and shipping kits help maintain consistency and reproducibility with full traceability of each component

  • Even with a single analytic method, each investigator and technician involved in sample analysis may contribute to analysis variation
  • Establish baseline sample characterization, integrate biomarker results, and perform quality checks for test and controls to avoid extreme variation
  • Share pre-analytical variables, accessibility rules, and timely information with research collaborators
